‘Pet Hero’ is a monthly competition where Isabelle Vets has nominated a pet who they believe has overcome, with stoicism and bravery, an exceptional medical condition, injury or surgery. Any of these could be your pet and with the love and care of their owner and the help of Isabelle Vets, they have battled through adversity.
Voting is now closed, as of January 31st, 2018 The winner with the most votes will receive a prize of £300 worth of pet supplies or veterinary services from Isabelle Vets, as our Pet Hero for 2017.
We will notify you of the winner, by email/FaceBook once the votes are tallied, and as an extra incentive, we will also randomly choose one voter to receive a prize of £150 worth of pet supplies or veterinary services from Isabelle Vets.
Buddy the Border Terrier who lept from a balcony and broke two of his legs. After weeks of reconstructive surgery and nursing, he is back to new!
Taffie, the border collie, developed acute haemolytic anaemia, an aggressive autoimmune disease. A blood transfusion from his friend, Merlin and prolonged chemo-style therapy saved his life.
Catrina, the rescue cat from the GSPCA who had a terrible road traffic accident with multiple pelvic fractures, needed her tail amputated and had severe skin injuries but went on to recover.
Connie the Gordon Setter who had a severe road accident collapsed her lung, ruptured her spleen, which was removed, damaged her liver and yet survived.
Tigger, the cat who suffered a blocked bladder which rapidly sent him into kidney failure. An astute owner, rapid treatment and a tolerant disposition to nursing saved his life.
Kura the Sheltie, a gentle kind dog who, with his owner’s TLC, survived pericarditis (fluid around the heart) and subsequent heart and kidney failure over several years.
Odo the Tortoise who even though she is 55 years’ old is still trying to have babies yet became egg bound and only survived after medication and nursing.
Jet the cat which kept having ‘Hypos’ and collapsing. The diagnosis was that he had a pancreatic tumour and this was successfully removed.
Alfie, the Labrador who suffers from diabetes and arthritis but also developed secondary TIA (minor stroke) and severe skin infection but continues to wag his tail.
Ben the Whippet, who has overcome slipped discs, tumours, lymphangitis, prostate problems, heart disease yet still keeps trotting on for his devoted owners.
